The historic VENINI glassworks, which celebrates its Centenary this year, has produced an exclusive creation for the 1000 Miglia vintage car race: a trophy conceived by designer Marc Newson able to conserve and express the Murano glass tradition through a striking contemporary design.
The prize is characterised by the iconic freccia rossa, the red arrow, symbol of the race, repeated ad infinitum on the surface of the glass cup, expressing dynamism, energy, and movement. In the midst of all these red arrows, one can find a V. It holds particular significance: it is a V as in VENINI and Velocity. The creation was realized entirely by hand, thanks to the murrine process, an ancient decorative technique already known to the Romans, revived in Murano at the start of the 1970s.
